FOOTNOTE
John decided on 'Ignis fatuus'.
Emily Dickinson says -
'Better an ignis fatuus than no belief at all.'
Who is 'foolish' and who is 'fire' we were asked. John immediately claimed to have the element of 'fire'. There is no question but that I am 'foolish' - why else travel with a 'will o' wisp' like John.
At Wedza, in Zimbabwe - a place you can only reach the 'day-after-tomorrow'- the vlei would light with greenish marsh fires on bitter winter nights and the indentured labourers tending the tobacco barns would run from the night spirits.
So here we are 'foolish fires' - lasting for a brief spell in the night.
Let us hope we tread lightly on the earth and do no great or permament damage to it.

Ruth and John
have been working my way through your travelogue you are doing well. Sorry its taken so long to send you someting.Have been rather busy since retiring I have been invigilating at the school exams. It started as a part time job and has taken over term time. Of more interest to John I am the evening Brewery tour guide for Wells and Youngs Brewery in Bedford no jugs only stright pots. The Carps is up for grabs as Dennis has banned everyone Dee and Antony Parker were the only two in there on Friday and they finally saw the light and defected across the road in the evening. The Swan on the other hand has a new landlord Phil from near Cambridge who has carpeted and tiled the whole place redecorated his wife is Thai and they have a wonderful Thai menu with British meals also.
You both seem well and enjoying you epic voyage of discovery keep the site up will look more often mind how you go hope to see you sometime
Sue and Don
