The music of Sibelius means a great deal to John and visiting Sibelius’s home was possibly the central reason for our trip to Finland. Our visit did not start auspiciously because we arrived on Monday so it was closed and we ended up sharing a site with Irish travellers in the rain.
That said the house is a delight as we discovered the next day. It is beautiful but homely, and full of good but personal art and objects and set in a forest where lily of the valley grow underfoot.
